Description:

 

Compact and modular; easy to set up, easy to swap between submerged and interface modes. Consistently stable fluid flow and stable temperature.

 

The Chambers

  • Manufactured from Plexiglas, or, for pharmacological or toxicological studies chemically inert p.t.f.e. (Teflon®) to avoid adhesion of drugs.

  • Ag/AgCl reference electrodes included with termination points, easily replaceable

  • The one, two or four channel chambers can be used either in the classical submerged [Oslo type] or in the air/fluid interface [Haas Type] with humidified atmosphere above the tissue slices

  • To convert from submerged to interface type, simply exchange the chamber top plate

  • Heated water bath has a low noise heating element and gas tube to prevent oxygen loss from perfusate solution

  • Holding chamber for incubation of slices until transfer to recording chamber

  • Stable Temperature control by dual thermistor feedback from water bath and slice chamber

  • Ergonomic design for access from either side with  micromanipulators

 

The Temperature Controller

  • Predictive algorithms [proportional integral derivative] gives very close control of to +/- 0.1 Celsius

  • Configurable alarms for temperature envelopes

  • No electromagnetic noise emission from the DC power source.

  • Temperature feedback from 2 thermistor probes, one can be placed in the chamber to check temperature, the other is permanently embedded with the perfusate tubes in the body of the chamber.

  • Digital and analogue data outputs are available

Applications:

Brain - Action Potentials from Hippocampal Slice

Heart - Double Pulse Stimulation to evaluate refractory period of cardiac action potential recorded from ventricular part of the cardiac tissue slice.

‘Synchroslice’:

Campden’s 4 channel submerged and interface type Slice Chambers at the heart of the ‘Synchroslice’ Integrated Laboratory. Two 4 channel chambers are used to configure a 8 channel system. Synchroslice is a complete integrated laboratory with software control of  pumps, gassing and stimulation pulses and trains with complete data acquisition and flexible data output. High throughput of slices for LTP and field potentials for screening of drugs and transgenic mouse types

Peristaltic Pumps:

Our ‘Smoothflow’ range of 2,4 and 8 channel peristaltic pumps feature microprocessor speed control of the high-torque stepper motor and 10 rollers to ensure that the flow rates are smooth and reproducible.

Micromanipulators:

Easily operated with one hand, the ergonomic design has x,y and z controls in the same plane. This manual micro-manipulator features a highly stable movement from it’s high-precision stable cross-roller bearings with good longevity giving you consistent accuracy of placement for years to come. Our stable clamp system is easy to position and mounts to our stress relieved anti-vibration plate which can be mounted onto simple passive rubber mounts or active anti vibration mounts to your requirements.

Custom chambers:

 

Produced to customer specification, 10mm diameter submerged (Oslo type) chambers. The blue coloured material is a p.t.f.e. to prevent adhesion of drug and agonists, the blue colour provides good contrast when viewing and placing electrodes under inspection microscope.

 

   
Consumables:

Only Campden supplied airpipe and Ag/AgCL reference electrodes should be used to ensure consistent performance. Electrode wires are specially lengthened. Electrodes should be replaced every month. Perfusate tubes should be washed out at the end of every days experiment and replaced weekly or sooner if bacterial growth becomes evident.
